“Going to the Dogs!” Dog Friendly Country Clubs of the Desert.

Many of us pet owners find that when buying a house it is very important to consider our 4-legged furry children.

Yes its true dogs often rule our lives but it’s worth every second of unconditional love they give back to us!

As a realtor I focus on selling homes in country clubs and I am often asked to help find a house suitable for the owners pets and a country club that will provide the best amenities not only for the human but the dog!

In my extensive travels across the country with my fury child, I have come to the conclusion that the beautiful Coachella Valley is one of the most pet friendly places in the country. Not only do many top restaurants, hotels and stores welcome well behaved dogs, but also many country clubs do the same. Just cruze down swanky El Paseo and you will see many an owner strutting their mutts! The same goes for many country clubs.

I have complied a list of what I have found to be the best Clubs in the area to be a dog member.

The high end Hideaway and Madison Clubs in La Quinta top the list. Well trained dogs are welcome to ride along with their owners on the golf cart during rounds of golf. They are also welcome on the patio to enjoy Al fresco dining! The Hideaway also has an annual dog show to name the top dog.

The Tradition Club is also very pet friendly and many members gather every evening for social hour on a make shift doggy park area. What could be more fun than cocktails and dogs!

Rancho La Quinta, Big Horn and The Palms offer large grassy fenced off dog park areas some with their own water feature.

Dog shows and Yappy Hours are a common occurrence at many clubs including 55 and better age restricted communities like Heritage Plams, Sun City and Trilogy. These clubs also have very active early morning dog walking groups and celebrate more pets birthdays than humans!

Charitable orgnaizations like pet rescues and Guide Dogs of the Desert also give clubs another opportunity to get together with pets to support great causes. Desert Falls CC has an annual event to raise money for Guide Dogs of the Desert . The Hideaway  and Mountain View CC  sponsor a luncheons every spring for pet rescue causes.

So if you are considering a home in the area and are a dog owner chances are you will find that most clubs are very welcoming to their furry children!
